I had the privilege of speaking with Calyn, a young author whose journey into writing is deeply rooted in personal experiences and God’s calling. Inspired to connect with and encourage other girls her age, she has used her writing as a way to share her story and faith.

Calyn’s favorite part of the writing process is planning. She especially loves creating the table of contents and mapping out devotionals, ensuring each one hits the key points she feels led to include. Seeing her ideas come together in an organized way is both fulfilling and exciting for her.

Calyn didn’t always see herself as an author. She was content in her comfort zone, but when the opportunity to write presented itself, she decided to give it a try, trusting in God’s plan. However, the hardest part of the process was the time constraint—she had only two months to complete her first book. Balancing quality with her tight deadline was challenging, but she persevered and delivered a meaningful piece of work.

When asked what advice she would give to aspiring young authors, Calyn offers this encouragement: “Keep going towards what God is calling you to do. Step into the new season wholeheartedly and don’t back down. You are here for a reason, so persevere.”

Reflecting on her experience as an author, Calyn shares that she didn’t initially realize the need for her book. Hearing testimonies from readers who relate to her story and have been encouraged by her words has been the most rewarding part of the journey. The connections she’s made and the impact of her work are what make it all worthwhile.

Looking ahead, Calyn is already working on her second book, continuing to follow where her creativity and faith lead her. She credits much of her inspiration to her time spent with the Lord, allowing Him to guide her ideas and words.
