I had the pleasure of speaking with William over Zoom, where we explored the many facets of his writing process. Through our conversation, I gained insight into his upbringing in a home filled with laughter and joy. His father and grandfather, both naturally gifted with humor, played a significant role in nurturing his creativity and comedic instincts.
One of William’s favorite aspects of writing is testing his jokes on family members, turning them into a vital part of his creative process. However, he admits that the most challenging part of writing is completing the book itself. He humorously acknowledges his talent for procrastination, explaining that while jokes come naturally, they cannot be forced. Setting daily joke-writing goals can be difficult, but he also finds this part of the process the most rewarding.
Interestingly, writing books was never something William envisioned for himself. When the opportunity arose, he eagerly embraced it, despite not having been an avid reader in his early years. To him, reading once felt like a chore—until he discovered the right genre. Now, he takes great joy in creating fun, engaging books and sharing his humor beyond his family circle. In a world increasingly dominated by screens, he believes books are more important than ever.
When asked what advice he would give to aspiring young authors, William’s message is one of encouragement and determination. "If you're not published yet, keep pushing forward. Work hard, finish your book, and find the right agent to help bring your vision to life."
